先天性サイトメガロウイルス感染症と先天性トキソプラズマ感染症が「小児慢性特定疾病」に指定されたとの嬉しいニュースがありました。日頃より地道に活動を続けている「トーチの会」はじめ支援されている先生方や皆さんの活動の賜物ではないでしょうか。

 

昨日は米国オースティンで開催されたCMV Public Health & Policy Conference（9月26-27日）に参加され、「トーチの会」の活動について発表された森内先生（「トーチの会」顧問）より、メッセージが届きました。会場で著者のリサとお話しされたとのことです。

 

AustinでのCMV学会が終わりました。

会場で Lisa Saunders さんに声を掛けられ、しばらく話し込んでいました。
日本のトーチの会の活動に非常に感心していましたし、自分の本の翻訳出版に漕ぎ着けたことにとっても感激していました。

トーチの会の活動で特に感心していたことは、

１）産婦人科医が積極的に係わってくれていること・・・アメリカでは熱心なのは小児科医と耳鼻科医だけで、産婦人科医は無視しているそうです（むしろ敵意を向けることも少なくないとか）

２）「妊すぐ」のような一般のマガジンも利用して啓発活動をしていること・・・早速出版社をあちこち回って、アメリカでも同じようなことをしたいと言ってました。

タブレット星人でもブログ国民でもないので、全く写真を撮らなかったのですが、一人で来ているのだからトーチの会のホームページ用に少し写真を撮れば良かったと、終わってから気付きました。気が利かなくてごめんなさい。
Lisaさんからツーショットで撮った写真を送ってもらったので、せめてそれだけでも転送します。

 Activities by a Patients and Families Association in Japan 

Abstract: 
TORCH-no-kai (Association for Congenital Toxoplasmosis and Cytomegalovirus Infections;
 http://toxo-cmv.org) is a non-profit organization in Japan that was established in 2012
 and dedicated to reduction of health burden due to congenital infections, 
especially congenital toxoplasmosis and congenital CMV (cCMV) infection, and supports for infected children and their families.
 Our activities include but are not limited to:
 (1) peer counseling and empowering families at get-togethers or through several social network systems,
 (2) awareness-raising activities through publications, lectures at academic meetings, internet or mass media,
 (3) information transmission by uploading articles on the homepage or issuing newsletters to members about prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cCMV,
 (4) connecting infected children and/or families with academic research activities, and
 (5) active approaches to policy makers for offering proposals of strategies against congenital infections.

We believe that our activities,
 which have been frequently brought up by mass media and well received by public opinion, promoted national studies supported or directed 
by the Ministry of Health, Labor and Welfare in Japan.
