ルビー・トゥイ選手からのメッセージ

日本で私の本が翻訳出版される可能性があるということで、とてもワクワクしています。日本の文化とラグビー界は素晴らしくて、長年サクラセブンズ（7人制女子日本代表）と対戦するのが毎回大好きだったし、去年はサクラフィフティーン（15人制女子日本代表）ともプレーすることができて最高でした。日本の女性は本当に勇敢で、全力で取り組むアスリート達。過去にずっと日本の方々の人柄の良さ、意志の強さ、勤勉さに感化されてきました。そしてもちろん東京オリンピックで金メダルを獲得できた事は、私のスポーツ人生で最高の瞬間の一つです。

日本のラグビーが選手たちをしっかりとバックアップし、ラグビーの発展に熱心であることに感心しています。特に女子ラグビー発展に全面協力しているのが素晴らしいと思います。自分自身が経験したように、女性にとってラグビーがどれだけ大切なものかを知っています。ラグビーは私に体力的、精神的、心理的、全てにおいて強さを与えてくれました。ラグビーは人生を救うものであり、そのメッセージを女性の方々と共有できることを誇りに思います！私自身、何年もの間日本からのメッセージをたくさんもらっていて、日本にも読みたいと思ってくれている方がたくさんいると思います。日本の方々からのサポートを本当に感じているので、私は今後も日本とはずっと特別な関係であり続けると思います。（翻訳：阿辻香子）

I’m super excited about the possibility of my book being published in Japan. The Japanese culture and rugby world is awesome and I’ve always loved playing against the Sakura Sevens over the years, and it was really cool to also play the Sakura Fifteens in the Rugby World Cup. The Japanese women are brave and extremely hard working athletes. The Japanese people have inspired me over the years with their good nature, determination and diligence. And of course winning an Olympic gold medal at the Tokyo Olympics in Japan will forever be one of my greatest sporting moments.

I really love the way that Japan Rugby is backing its players so strongly and is keen to grow the game. It’s especially wonderful that they are fully supportive of growing the women’s game. I know how important the game of rugby can be for women – it’s helped me hugely over the years. It’s given me strength, mentally, physically and spiritually. It’s been a life saver and I am so proud to be able to share that message with other women and to do so with Japanese women would be incredible! I’ve had lots of messages from Japan over the years and I know there would be plenty of keen readers there. I have really felt the support from the Japanese people and I will always have a special relationship with Japan.
